Original artworks in colored pencil and oil, historic inspirations, scientific illustration from two decades of medical research, and botanical photography from Catherine and Daniel's garden.

I am both a scientist and an artist. I have been a medical researcher for over 20 years, and I produce artworks with colored pencils and occasionally with oil paints.
The two practices feed each other. Years of looking closely down a microscope taught me patience and precision, and that same attention shows up in every layer of pigment on paper.
Alongside my own work, I keep a collection of the historic artworks that continue to inspire me, and I write at Vita Excelsa.
Colored pencil, built up slowly in translucent layers, and occasional works in oil. Each piece begins with long, careful observation.

Read Vita ExcelsaMy research career runs in parallel with the studio. This section brings the two together: findings from more than two decades of medical research, explained through scientific illustrations I draw myself. The full collection is being built out now.
